Bridging the Gap is a program organised by CQM with the goal of bringing science and society closer together.
Chemistry is Fun is a project that started in 1995, before CQM even existed.
On the morning of the 20th of March 2015, the “Escola Básica dos 2º e 3º Ciclos Dr. Eduardo Brazão de Castro” from Funchal promoted an activity in which a lecture on “Química no dia-a-dia” and a series of experimental activities from “A Química é Divertida” were presented. Throughout the course of the activity, approximately 50 7th grade students, as well as several teachers from the school, participated in this dynamic and interactive educational initiative.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of the researchers Dr. Carla Alves, Carla Miguel, Dina Maciel and Nilsa Oliveira from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the morning of the 19th of March 2015, around 50 pupils and 4 teachers from the “Escola de Santana” had the opportunity to visit the CQM laboratories. They were also able to interact directly with researchers, discovering more about the research being developed within the Centre.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of the junior researchers Nilsa Oliveira, Dina Maciel e Carla Miguel from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the morning of the 16th of March 2015, around 30 pupils and 3 teachers from the “Escola Básica e Secundária Ângelo Augusto da Silva” had the opportunity to visit the CQM laboratories. They were also able to interact directly with researchers, discovering more about the research being developed within the Centre.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of Professor Helena Tomás, as well as the researchers Dr. Carla Alves and Nilsa Oliveira, from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the 26th February 2015, 22 10th grade students from “Escola Básica e Secundária Dr.º Luís Maurílio da Silva Dantas” accompanied by their teacher visited the Centro de Química da Madeira. Throughout the course of the day the students had the opportunity to participate in an experimental activity at the CQM laboratories.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of Professor João Rodrigues and Professor Helena Tomás, as well as the researchers Dr. Carla Alves, Dina Maciel and Nilsa Oliveira, from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the 6th February 2015, the “Colégio Santa Teresinha” promoted an activity in which a lecture on “Química no dia-a-dia” and a series of experimental activities from “A Química é Divertida” were presented. Throughout the course of the activity, 70 7th grade students, as well as several teachers from the school, participated in this dynamic and interactive educational initiative.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of the researchers Dr. Carla Alves, Dina Maciel and Nilsa Oliveira from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the 28th of May 2014, the “Escola Básica e Secundária Dr.º Luís Maurílio da Silva Dantas” from Câmara de Lobos promoted a 2 hour long activity in which a lecture on “Química no dia-a-dia” and a series of experimental activities from “A Química é Divertida” were presented. Throughout the course of the activity, 7th and 8th grade students from the school participated in this educational initiative in a dynamic and interactive manner.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of the researchers Dina Maciel and Nilsa Oliveira from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the 6th July 2013, approximately 80 members of the Santa Cecília Scout Group (1082) had the opportunity to participate in several experimental activities from “A Química é Divertida”. Throughout the course of the afternoon the scouts, ranging in age from 6 to 50, participated in this educational initiative in a dynamic and interactive manner.
The realization of this initiative involved the participation of the researchers Dr. Carla Alves, Mara Gonçalves, Nilsa Oliveira, Rita Castro and Dina Maciel from the Centro de Química da Madeira of the University of Madeira.
On the morning of the 5th of June 2013, the “Escola do 1º Ciclo com Pré de Faial” from Santa Maria Maior, Funchal, promoted an activity in which a series of experimental activities from “A Química é Divertida” were presented. Throughout the course of the activity, preschoolers, 1st grade students and 2nd grade students from the school participated in this educational initiative in a dynamic and interactive manner.
