To mark the start of the new academic year, the Madeira Chemistry Research Centre prepared, on the morning of last Tuesday, October 7, an informal welcome reception for the 24 students enrolled in the Biochemistry Degree at the University of Madeira.

After the opening session, which started with the presentation of the CQM to the new students, by the Scientific Coordinator of the CQM, Professor João Rodrigues, the students had the opportunity to visit the teaching laboratories of the Chemistry Department, where the practical classes will take place, as well as the CQM research laboratories. This visit was conducted by senior CQM researchers, Professors Helena Tomás (Coordinator of the Department of Chemistry) and Paula Castilho (Director of the 1st cycle in Biochemistry). It counted on CQM researchers' participation, who made known to the new students some of the work underway at this national research center.

We wish these students, once again, the greatest successes in this new academic stage.

*CQM is a National Research Center based at the University of Madeira, supported by FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology and ARDITI - Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology, and Innovation.
