INDO-PORTUGUESE WORKSHOP ON EMERGING TRENDS OF NANOTECHNOLOGY IN CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY

The Indo-Portuguese Workshop on Emerging Trends of Nanotechnology in Chemistry and Biology will be held in New Delhi, India, from 12 to 13 February 2016. This conference is a joint organization of the Department of Chemistry (Hansraj College) and the Department of Chemistry (Deshbandhu College) from the University of Delhi (India) in association with the Madeira Chemistry Research Center (University of Madeira, Portugal).

The concept of nanotechnology has gained enough attention in recent years due to its significant role in the field of medical sciences and technology. Nanotechnology comprises structural manipulations at the nanoscale and is already being used in products in its passive form, such as cosmetics and sunscreens. One area of nanotechnology that holds the promise of affording the great benefits for society is medicine. Nanotechnology is already being employed for more effective drug delivery systems, which ultimately increases the efficacy of drugs.

This workshop is of multidisciplinary nature and covers the various disciplines of science and is intended to expose for the first time in a joint workshop, students and faculty members to the thrust areas of research with emphasis on indigenous problems. The workshop’s aim is to create awareness among young research scholars and scientists from all over the world in the area of nanotechnology.

The main objective of the two-day International workshop is to sensitize and stimulate the young minds to bring out the best among the various frontiers of nanoscience. This meeting will be able to bring together the undergraduate, postgraduate students, doctoral students and faculty members on a common platform to deliberate and discuss the various emerging interdisciplinary areas of nanoscience. The following main topics will be covered during the workshop:

  • Drug Discovery
  • Drug Delivery
  • Peptide Nanostructures
  • Nanocatalysis
  • Nanobiotechnology
  • Nanomaterials
  • Nanotechnology in Biomedical Sciences
  • Biotechnology
