ECOFIBRAS Open Symposium Poster Header

CQM is hosting the 2nd meeting of the ECOFIBRAS project and organizing an open symposium on the 3rd of November.

In the scope of the 2nd meeting of the ECOFIBRAS project, CQM will organize an open symposium on the 3rd of November (8:45 - Room 0.57 - Penteada). The focus of the symposium will be the invasive species of the Macaronesia, their identification, natural behavior and their use for the extraction/production of fibers for technological applications.

The ECOFIBRAS project (Eco-sustainable valorization of Macaronesia invasive vegetable species to obtain fibers with industrial use, MAC/4.6d/040) is a transregional project involving the Canary (Team leader), Azores and Madeira islands. The project is supported through the regional cooperation program MAC with FEDER funds (INTERREG- MAC2014-2020). In Madeira, the project is led by CQM and with João Rodrigues, Helena Tomás, and Olga Evdokimova as team members. The goal of ECOFIBRAS is to achieve environmentally sustainable recovery of invasive plant species to produce industrial fibers with the applications in reinforced composite materials, nanocomposites and fertilizers. ECOFIBRAS will have a duration of 3 years (from January 2017 to December 2019) and has a global budget of 953 607 euros (UMa/CQM: 151 022 euros).

The symposium is open to all but, due to limitations in number of available seats, CQM researchers have priority/ preferential access. The symposium will be extremely relevant to anyone potentially interested in the use of natural fibers as a source of nanomaterials for the preparation of reinforced materials and nanocomposites for industrial uses, including automotive and medical applications.

REGISTRATION

If you plan to attend the symposium, please be sure to register through our form until the 27th of October. Keep in mind that the number of available seats is limited to the size of the conference room and that CQM researchers will have priority/ preferential access.
